On July 11, she was in Kenya as part of UNICEF's child survival program.  While there, she heard stories of poverty, abuse, and disease. These stories impacted her deeply, as she is a mother herself. She shared her own story of growing up poor in India. Mrs. Chopra is using her platform to raise awareness for the issues faced by children in developing countries. Priyanka Chopra recently visited Kenya as part of UNICEF's program and has  shared a few memories via video.

She said she cannot imagine that her daughter Malti Marie crying because of hunger, which she witnessed in Kenya. She got some inspiration from there.
