Veteran Assam actor Nippon Goswami has passed away


Veteran Assam actor Nippon Goswami has passed away. He made her debut in the Assamese film 'Pioli Phukan' as a child artist industry.

Veteran Assamese actor Nippon Goswami died at a private hospital in Guwahati on Thursday after a prolonged illness. Nippon Goswami was 80 years old. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has condoled the death of Goswami. He expressed deep condolences to the family. Himanta Vishwa Sharma worked with Goswami as a child artist.

Himanta Vishwa Sharma tweeted and wrote, "I am deeply saddened to hear about the demise of the evergreen actor of Assam. I had the distinction of being closely associated with him during the shooting of the film 'Kokadeuta Naati Aaru Hati'. Will always be remembered.

Nippon Goswami's career

There are son and daughter-in-law in Nippon's family. His wife died in 2015. Goswami was born in Tezpur and his father was an actor and mother was a singer. Goswami entered the world of acting as a child artist with the Assamese film 'Peyoli Phukan'. Goswami was a classmate of Subhash Ghai, Shatrughan Sinha and Naveen Nischal at the Film and Television Institute of India, Pune.

He started his film career as a lead actor in the Assamese film 'Sangram' and was followed by another super hit film 'Dr. Bezbarua' was seen. Goswami acted in 50 Assamese language films. 'Mukuta', 'Sandhya Raga', 'Ajoli Nobou', 'Aparupa', 'Ghar Sangsar', 'Kokadeuta Nati Aaru Hati', 'Siraj', 'Deutar Biya', 'Baibhav', 'Hiya Diya Niya', ' Joan Jwole Kopalat', 'Jonaki Mon', 'Meetha Meetha Logonot', 'Kadambari' and 'Morrisika' are among his prominent films.

Worked in Hindi films also

Goswami's last Assamese film was 'Lankakand' directed by Rajini Burman. He also acted in seven Hindi films, including Kalpana Lajmi's 'Daman', Bhabendranath Saikia's 'Kaal Sandhya' and Rajkumar Kohli's 'Vitri'. Goswami was also actively associated with the exclusive mobile theater of Assam and was part of theater companies Abahan, Kohinoor, Hangul and Shakuntala over the years. He also worked in some TV shows including 'Ritu Ahe Ritu Jaye'.

At the same time, Union Minister of Shipping, Ports, Waterways and AYUSH Sarbananda Sonowal has also condoled the death of Nippon. He said that the demise of a bright star of the Assamese film industry has shocked the people of the state.
